As the saying goes, “April showers bring May flowers.”
Likewise, Winter development sprints bring Spring releases…
…and new naming conventions. Beginning with this release, all new STR Software releases will follow a standard release nomenclature—that will look like Year.Quarter.PointRelease. You will see this with our current release, v20.1.00. So don’t be alarmed if your software version jumps from 14.4.00 to 20.1.00.
Okay, back to the release itself…Our incredible team toiled away during the unseasonably warm winter months here in Richmond—besting the flu, a trip to Vietnam, and the temporary shift to a remote office—to bring important customer requests and improvements to the AventX product suite.
Here’s a rollup of some of the key features. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager for a demonstration or to learn more!

Document Delivery Features
More Flexibility with Combine & Group
Many customers are already using AventX to combine and group documents for more efficient email delivery. As a refresher, before sending emails, the Combine feature merges all the documents and attachments into a single PDF. Similarly, the Email GroupSend feature intelligently groups documents and attachments into a single delivery. Both work to streamline your outbound emails—individually or jointly.
However, the setting for this feature existed only at the report level previously. With this release, these features can now be leveraged within a report at the recipient level, too! AventX administrators can now configure the global document settings to “off” while still defining which unique recipients should receive combined and/or grouped messages.

Archive - Click, Combine, and View
Archiving is increasingly becoming a critical business process for AventX users. Whether the primary distribution channel is “archive” or part of the larger print/email/fax process, AventX handles the dynamic file and folder naming process with ease.
Often the archive module is used as a "backup” to the original process—especially when printing—to avoid having to run additional concurrent requests to access the final output. With Click, Combine, and View, AventX users can use the AventX Delivery Status page to access all archived files quickly, click (or select) one or more files (sequential or non-sequential), then view the file as a combined PDF. This new tool is a perfect complement to the automatic background printing process. When Print (or Fax or Email) and Archive are used together, the documents are archived for easy retrieval even if reports fail in the printing process. This allows users to quickly locate failed print invoices, for example, combine them to a single PDF, and submit them to a printer…all without the need to initiate a new concurrent request.

SAP users can now easily manage their email and fax deliveries with the addition of a Windows Active Directory mapping feature. The integration broadens the capabilities of the AventX WebManager tool, allowing users to manage their own email and fax deliveries easily—track, resend, forward, and more. Giving users access to this core feature can help eliminate the need for IT involvement in delivery troubleshooting.

Improved Email Customization for SAP
AventX for SAP has supported basic email functionality for many years with the Fax-2-Email pre-processing script. By mapping a fax number to an email address, AventX can pick up the document and deliver it via email.
In the newest release of AventX for SAP, users and admins have greater control of the entire outbound email process.
- Dynamically Name File Attachments—past versions of the email functionality were based on fax, in which file naming conventions did not matter. Now files can dynamically be named before sending via email.
- Dynamic Sender & Reply To—similarly, faxing did not rely heavily on the sender’s name or reply-to address…just a fax number. With the Spring 2020 release, Fax-2-Email users can now dynamically insert unique email sender and reply-to information to outbound emails based on the user mapping feature.

Operating System Improvements & Enhancements
64-bit Linux Build
Not all new features are glitz and glam, but as operating systems and hardware advance, so must AventX. With the Spring 2020 release, the core AventX product gets a native 64-bit build. Once the 64-bit build is in place, future upgrades get much more manageable by eliminating dependencies on legacy compatibility libraries.
