Implementing an Automated Fax Solution Moving from MPE to SAP ERP

The Company

The Problem

When Carlisle originally implemented AventX MPE in 1993, they replaced snail mail and manual fax processes to pursue a long-standing goal of “making it easy to do business with Carlisle.” Shortly after launching AventX, Carlisle identified another milestone, to automatically fax 1,000 documents monthly within the year. Within six months of the implementation, AventX allowed them to far exceed their expectations by processing over 9,000 fax transmissions monthly.

Fast forward to today, with the implementation of SAP® ERP alongside their legacy MPE solution, Carlisle needed a solution for their new ERP application.

The Solution

Recognizing the enduring significance of document delivery, Carlisle diligently researched several SAP document delivery solutions. During this search, they discovered STR Software, which had an SAP-certified software solution. According to Stan Rice, Manager of Information Technology, “That was all I needed to know. When you have an excellent relationship and a software solution that meets your needs, why change?”

The SAP implementation at Carlisle spanned six months, and STR Software remained a strategic partner throughout. Their document delivery solution was installed and configured well before the overall solution deployment date. At the go-live, Carlisle seamlessly faxed Quotes, Orders, Shipment Notifications, Invoices, Customer Statements, and Purchase Orders from SAP, just as they had with the original HP3000 solution.

Over the years, Carlisle experienced remarkable efficiency improvements thanks to AventX. Whenever specific fax requirements changed, Carlisle promptly requested software enhancements. Rice noted, “We were always pleased with the enthusiasm and expertise of STR Software’s responses to Carlisle’s requests.”

AventX sends over 54,000 faxes per month. Rice emphatically states, “The STR Software solution was the right decision in 1993, and without a doubt, it is still the right decision for Carlisle SynTec today.”
