The Company
The City of Riverside, located in southern California, houses a population of more than 300,000 citizens. Riverside city government constantly strives to improve operational efficiency and boasts numerous awards for pursuing excellence and innovation in city governance and public service.
The Problem
City of Riverside spent significant time and resources manually distributing their purchasing and accounts payable documents via fax and postal mail delivery. To curb spending and improve productivity, the city required a solution to integrate with its ONESolution (formally IFAS) application to automate fax and email delivery of its critical business documents.

The Solution
The City of Riverside selected AventX to improve its procurement and A/P processes, generating savings through the automatic delivery of purchase orders, invoices, and electronic fund transfers. AventX automates the delivery of more than 200 documents daily while providing delivery acknowledgments back to individual users.
The City of Riverside’s purchasing department procures approximately $350 million of goods and services annually and relies on AventX to deliver its purchase orders electronically. In 2023, the National Purchasing Institute awarded its “Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award” to the City of Riverside for its automated procurement practices for the 18th consecutive year. “We’ve streamlined our procurement process continuously to save money for the taxpayer,” said Art Torres, Purchasing Services Manager. “It’s saving users time, money, and reams of paper.”
