AventX now certified against Oracle EBS 12.2

Just a few short months after its release, STR Software has certified AventX for use with Oracle EBS 12.2. In order to meet the needs of customers who were planning to upgrade quickly, it was important for us to become one of the first third-party vendors with a compatible version of their software ready for customers. This release continues the trend of AventX exceeding customers’ expectations for a third-party application that integrates seamlessly with Oracle EBS as it grows and evolves.

Oracle EBS 12.2 was made generally available in late 2013 and is the most robust release in recent years. The release includes:

• Online patching to minimize system maintenance downtime
• Improved features and functionality across multiple modules
• New database components and Fusion Middleware
• Relatively streamlined installation

We hope by releasing AventX Oracle Connector 9.2.00 and AventX Attachment Printer 9.2.00 as soon as possible after the EBS 12.2 release, we can allow customers to upgrade on their own timelines and know that critical functionality like emailing, faxing, and printing are supported.

Though the online patching aspect presented a new and unique challenge, for many EBS customers it is the most exciting and important component of the release. This new feature means that of the five major steps in the patching process, only one requires downtime. Brent Lowe, STR Software’s Manager of Product Development, reviewed the online patching feature in this blog post, and explained,

“Online patching in Oracle EBS 12.2 marks a shift in the way customers and 3rd party providers will need to develop, deliver, and install internal or bolt-on applications. STR Software wanted to ensure that our customers were able to continue using AventX in their 12.2 environments, so we rapidly made the necessary changes to certify the product against 12.2 and are prepared for new and existing customers to move to the latest Oracle technology.”
