Software Support Engineer

Help us implement & support mission-critical software for Fortune 1000 enterprises

STR Software is launching new products and we are looking for new engineers to join our Service Delivery Team. You will be able to work from home while helping the team onboard new customers and help take care of some of the best companies in the world!

How You Will Help

The Service Delivery Engineer delivers quality, professional, timely, and accurate support and project management services to STR Software customers. By implementing and supporting our products, STR Software works with some of the largest Fortune 1000 companies to improve their Oracle Cloud, Oracle EBS, JD Edwards, and SAP environments.

The Service Delivery Engineer’s primary responsibility is to perform the following types of services for new and existing clients during normal and, on occasion, after business hours:

  • New software implementations for new clients
  • Software upgrades for existing customers
  • Resolve technical support issues for existing customers

In addition, the Service Delivery Engineer will perform the following secondary responsibilities:

  • Perform application upgrades on internal servers and infrastructure
  • Assist the revenue team by evaluating client projects and maintaining demo environments

In your first 30 days…

  • Learn about the company and our culture, customers, and products.
  • Start installing our products in your lab environment and integrating them with Oracle EBS, Oracle eAM, and Oracle Cloud Maintenance.
  • Upgrade and maintain internal software applications running on Linux and Windows servers. These servers run the services team labs environment. Doing this will help you learn the software and how customers use it. You will learn about the various customer use cases and perform tests to ensure the software meets the team’s standards.

In the first 60 days…

  • STR Software assigns a primary support engineer to each client. During this time, you will be assigned new customers for products you have been learning. The goal is for you to begin understanding client problems and assist with providing technical support.

After the first 120 days…

  • Customers who need help upgrading their software work with the team to schedule time for you to assist them. You will be acting as a project manager to the customers. Our software supports very large companies, and customers need knowledgeable engineers who can help them plan, prepare, upgrade, test, and move the new versions of our software into production.
  • As you progress, you will take on more complex projects by working with customers to perform fresh implementations of new software modules and products for new clients. This is some of the most exciting work!

Qualifications and Training

STR Software provides hands-on training via its internal university—STRU—employee mentoring, product certifications (potentially attached to employee incentive programs), and by working directly with customers. The average employee tenure on the team is 15 years. Even though you will learn many things once hired, new employees must have the following skills and talent:

  • A proficient understanding of computer systems, operating systems, networking, and software applications is required.
  • A college degree is required.
  • Experience supporting Linux and Windows applications is required.
  • Experience supporting Oracle E-Business Suite is highly desired
  • Experience reading and understanding SQL and PL/SQL is highly desired.
  • Project management experience desired.

About You

  • Humble – You share success widely but take the blame when things go wrong. You are highly self-aware. You know (and are comfortable sharing) what you are not good at. You welcome feedback as an opportunity to improve.
  • Growth Mindset – You love a challenge. You are intellectually curious and love to figure out how things work. You have a diverse set of interests inside and outside of work. You can articulate areas where you have worked hard to improve yourself.

Integrity and ethics are the hallmark of our business practices.

Our best vendor relationship has been with Biscom when they were four people and we were just one. The relationship was established in 1988 with a simple handshake and a firm commitment by everyone to create and support the best automated fax product on the market. As the companies added staff we instilled that same mantra. This relationship continues to this day, simply because of the integrity, ethics, and character of the teams on both sides.

We exemplify teamwork in all interactions.

We can’t go it alone. The company is what it is because of a high degree of teamwork. It is a wonderful sight to see our team’s work well together to set a goal and achieve it. Although it is a cliché, “there is no ‘I’ in team” is true at STR Software. Nobody can be successful at this company without having the help of others.

We honor individual intellect, creativity, initiative, innovation and productivity.

It is important we build teams centered on the “double i’s” of intellect and initiative. We want to hire and retain smart people whose creativity brings new ideas to improve our products, services, customer experience, and internal processes. We honor and reward them for their contributions.

We take pride in achieving results.

At the end of the day, we want everyone to go home with a feeling of satisfaction for the work we accomplished. It may be that awesome software that we have developed. Or the challenging support call we resolved to keep a customer’s mission-critical business process running. We achieve results as a team, taking pride in the large and small victories alike.

We consistently exceeded everyone’s expectations for service, product quality and professionalism.

Better than average is never good enough. We strive to exceed the expectations of our customers with the best product from the best people. We have received fantastic ratings from our customers that we truly cherish. We stick with customers and work tirelessly if needed to solve their problems. Deep care for our customers is a requirement for employees to be successful at our company.

We encourage personal growth.

Every single employee hired here had no experience with the majority of what they had to know to perform their jobs. They had to learn it as they went about their daily work. This requires a strong personal interest on their part and a solid support and training system from us. We strive to do our best to help individuals grow and to celebrate all of our accomplishments.

We are committed to each employee’s success.

We help each other reach assigned goals that lead to the success of the company as well. People want to associate with successful people. The company will be successful when the contributions of each employee reach the intended goal. Better yet, exceed it.
